Umbrella Co-operatives in Canada
CCA provides leadership to promote, develop, and unite co-operatives and credit unions for the benefit of people in Canada and around the world. They were farmers who had lost most of their savings during the Great Depression. So in 1945 they made a promise. A pledge to find a better way to protect their families and everything they had worked hard to achieve. They believed by working together they could build a more secure future for all and offer insurance based on fairness, integrity and value. That simple vision formed the foundation of The Co-operators.

CWCF's vision is to be a growing, cohesive network of democratically-controlled worker co-ops that provide a high quality of worklife, and support the development of healthy and sustainable local economies, based on cooperative principles.
Their mission is to...
1. Secure and coordinate national development resources, in order to support the development of worker co-ops;
2. Develop awareness of and support for the worker co-op option within the co-op sector, government, and elsewhere throughout Canada; and
3. Provide value-added business services to member worker co-ops.
About 300 retail co-operatives serve an estimated 1,000,000 individual co-op members from Thunder Bay in northwest Ontario to the Queen Charlotte Islands on British Columbia's West Coast, and from the U.S. border to the Arctic Circle. Retail co-operatives are united as the Co-operative Retail System through their central wholesale organization, Federated Co-operatives Limited.

Fondé en 1946, le Conseil Canadien de la Coopération (CCC) est une organisation nationale qui regroupe aujourd'hui huit conseils provinciaux de la coopération, représentant plus de 8 millions de coopératrices et de coopérateurs francophones dans plus de 3 296 coopératives, dont les actifs consolidés atteignaient près de 117 milliards de dollars au 31 décembre 2004.

Promouvoir la coopération, par son rôle de porte-parole agissant du mouvement coopératif francophone au Canada, en vue du développement socio-économique des communautés francophones.
